Dream For Your Country:
“Healing” is the one word that encapsulates my dream for an improved South Africa. As a country, we are confronted daily by atrocities such as GBV, poverty, as well as the increasing decline in youth mental health. I believe that if our country can invest more in the healing of of crime victims, perpetrators and the youth through outreach programmes such as group therapy within communities, rehabilitation centres, as well as government-subsidised mental health personnel in all schools, the emotional void that so many of our citizens have to live with on a day to day basis can be filled. I believe that so much of our problems are rooted in unhealed traumas and experiences from our past that have a ripple effect on the decisions we make in future. Sometimes these decisions hurt others and the vicious cycle continues because we live in a society where most issues are swept under the carpet. Therefore through dissecting these issues and healing together as a community, I believe more than half of our problems as a country can be solved or even prevented.
